Alaska Hummingbird Festival

This is a month-long celebration of the hummingbirds coming back to Alaska. Migratory birds from Central and South America return to the southern panhandle of Alaska. The male Rufous Hummingbirds begin arriving Ketchikan in mid-March and are seen at feeders and flowers throughout Ketchikan by mid-April.

Festival events include guided bird hikes, art shows, and activities for children.

Hummingbird Day - Santa Cruz Arboretum

Hummingbird Day is the central coast’s premier family-oriented educational event celebrating one of nature’s vibrant aerial acrobats, the Hummingbird.

Hummingbirds just can’t resist the temptation of such a plentiful supply of nectar at the Arboretum. During the event, nature lovers of all ages will see and learn about these amazing birds and the gardens that host and support them. Guests will have plenty of opportunities to watch and hear hummingbird courtship shenanigans as well as participate in a variety of activities focused on these amazing creatures.

Annual Hummingbird Festival & Pollination Celebration

Sugar Grove Nature Center

All ages are encouraged to learn about hummingbirds and other pollinators from experts during programs, guided hikes, and garden tours. Learn about native landscaping, see a bee hive up-close, sample honey, and learn from members of the Illinois State University Beekeeping Club! Children will especially enjoy watching puppet shows, making crafts, and overcoming obstacles in a life-sized game of migration. Also featured will be a program and discussion on hummingbird trapping, banding and releasing.

Indiana Audubon Hummingbird Migration Celebration

The Indiana Audubon Hummingbird Migration Celebration is a festival about the Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Multiple sponsors and partners provide an opportunity for all to learn about these amazing little birds, how to attract them, and how to keep them coming year after year. Activities include hummingbird banding demonstrations to view hummingbirds up close, guided nature walks, a native plant sale, programs about birds and other pollinators, kid’s activities, vendor booths, live music, and more.

Annual Hummingbird Festival: The Great Hummingbird Migration

Location: Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes

August brings hundreds of hummingbirds to the area as they migrate south to Central America. You can see as many as 200 of them in a single day at the Nature Station! Join us to celebrate this natural spectacle and watch the backyard beauties as they buzz around the native gardens. Check out hummingbird banding demonstrations that will be ongoing all weekend as biologists catch, tag, and release hummingbirds. Discover how you can help hummingbirds and other migrating wildlife right at your own home! Stroll through our outdoor gallery of local wildlife artists, stop by the native plant sale, and enjoy programs, demonstrations, a hummingbird gift shop, and kids’ crafts and games!

Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration

The Feliciana Hummingbird Celebration promotes the unique breeding habitat found in the St. Francisville area. The event offers an opportunity to observe hummingbirds up close as they are banded at two private homes in the St. Francisville area on Saturday.

Visitors will have the opportunity to observe hummingbirds up close as they are weighed and measured. In addition, vendors will be at both homes with hummingbird-attractive plants available for sale.
